As a back office Sprint employee I am truly excited to see what SoftBank brings to the table. Clear has been a pain in the assets since 2007 with their hand out for more money at every opportunity and now this little stunt is just over the top.
Clear is like that adult child who has drained their parents dry and now is demanding a payoff to move out. I am so sick and tired of this. No raises ...

I am about sick of these woodby 3rd party interest stiring up trouble and causing people who are doing work additinal expense and aggrivation for profit.
Sprint already owns 51% controling interest. In addition to that Sprint has bank rolled Clearwire/Clear since 2007 with "loans" that Clear cannot even make the interest payments on let alone lets not even discuss that contractual obligation of the minimum payments that they agreed to in the begining.

In reality, despite the picture you've painted, there is no relationship between the promo pricing that the subcribers receive and their monthly service charges. There are no deceptive practices or pricing models fashioned here. The verbage simply does not exist.

The equipment, service agreement, and early termination fee are autonomous of the service fee OTHER THAN an to agree to matain servuce for the term of the agreement.
To say your MRC is PAYING for your equipment is speculation and that language exist no where in the service agreement.

Yes, BB7 and prior have Pandora and other apps. BB10 will not have this available at launch.
"Essential apps" as I said are merely my opinion for myself I as well as several others use Netfix, Hulu, Pandora and Gmail with quite a bit of regularity not saying it won't be developed for BB10 furthermore I am not saying the approximately 70k apps available won't expand.
Im just concerned that this would be quite a bit of a gamble ...

Clear (formally Clearwire) is in so deep to Sprint that they haven't even been able to meet their interest on their corporate loans let alone you could forget about any payment according to the terms of the agreement.
Just one poorly executed business deal with Clear one after another. Dan Hesse and Bob Johnson should of washed their hands of this debacle back in Q4 2008 when Clear used Sprint's and Sprint's stakeholder's capital to fund Clear's retail ...

The iPhone isn't too bad as long as you jailbreak it. .. But at that point all you are left with is an Android with an undersized screen, horrible battery life, non user removable or replaceable battery, fixed internal memory with no microSD slot, a stupid proprietary charge and data port, atrocious battery life, and and ridiculously fragile device. Oh yeah and you just voided the factory warranty by jailbreaking it.

If we are lucky we will have at least 3 major national post paid carriers in five years but I do see prepaid blowing up.
Boost and Virgin have been quite profitable for Sprint as in
- minimal or no subsidies extended to the subscriber for equipment.
- all services are paid for in advance (no dough no phone)
- little to no financial portfolio risk ...

I have this device on Sprint and yes plasticy does describe the feel a bit slick for my taste but the specs far outweigh this skin deep review.
This phone makes for a great daily driver, the size does take a bit getting used to, but this is the 1st phone in a while to give me that wow factor that the device manufacturers have be lacking for years!

You see, from a business prospective; a subscriber will pay the $10 MRC although NOT happy about it this would encourage them to migrate to CDMA sevices. As the point of any fee is to encourage desired behaviors much like a shock collar or an electric fence and fir the die hard hold outs we get their standard MRCs PLUS the $10 iDen charge until the iDen networkbis powered down and the spectrum has been repurposed.
