Should not be surprising coming from the SAME company who is piloting residential cable boxes that can record and monitor in home activities and sell it for targeted marketing purposes... For instance you tell soneone on the phone to go eff themselves then coincidently a Trojan commercial will come on the TV....

As a back office Sprint employee I am truly excited to see what SoftBank brings to the table. Clear has been a pain in the assets since 2007 with their hand out for more money at every opportunity and now this little stunt is just over the top. Clear is like that adult child who has drained their parents dry and now is demanding a payoff to move out. I am so sick and tired of this. No raises ...

I am about sick of these woodby 3rd party interest stiring up trouble and causing people who are doing work additinal expense and aggrivation for profit. Sprint already owns 51% controling interest. In addition to that Sprint has bank rolled Clearwire/Clear since 2007 with "loans" that Clear cannot even make the interest payments on let alone lets not even discuss that contractual obligation of the minimum payments that they agreed to in the begining. This is NOT a buy out ...

I like you Rich, been reading you for years and we're rarely disagree. But you are connecting dots, filling in the blanks, and drawing conclusions based on opinion and personal interpretation of how thinfs "should" be. In reality, despite the picture you've painted, there is no relationship between the promo pricing that the subcribers receive and their monthly service charges. There are no deceptive practices or pricing models fashioned here. The verbage simply does not exist. Depspite ...

Okay then... Lets go with this notion.. The equipment, service agreement, and early termination fee are autonomous of the service fee OTHER THAN an to agree to matain servuce for the term of the agreement. To say your MRC is PAYING for your equipment is speculation and that language exist no where in the service agreement. You are paying for a service to a device thay is your property that you paid for in part cash and in part a ...

I hear you, but the big 3 won't mirror this "best practice". The margin that you deem as the consumer fleecing is necessary operating capital as apart of acceptable operational margin and is figured with the cost and goods and services rendered. Are you implying that operating margins and profit margin on the cellular market should be set by regulation? Im afraid that I am not all too comfortable with that notion. In this market the fair price of anything ...

Americans won't pay what a device is worth unless the cost is hidden. Dan Hesse once stated the "sweet spot" for high end phone pricing is $199 and he Iis right on the money with that figure. Yes, we all know you are financing a phone we as Americans just dont want to talk about it. I guess Rich intended the article to be a thought provoking call to action of sorts. If you're out of contact, then it's an at will condition of service. At that point youre a willing buyer paying a willing seller's pricefor goods and services. Your argument assumes as well, that your quality of service with Cricket, Metro and TMo is the same as Sprint, ATT & VZW when un reality it is not. Highly disappointed in you Rich for this "editorial" piece that patronizes to the lowest common denominator. What bothers me is people will read this and actually feel "informed". Its easy to bash the top 4 carriers as they assume most of the risk and trailblaze into the future with cutting edge innovation that can only come with the resources of deep pockets. Cellular service is not a charity, networks don't build and and maintain themselves. (Unless you're an ...

The US smartphone market is vicious and as much as we whine and cry for an alternative to the two major OS' s currently leading the market they are leading the market because that's what people are buying and that is what app developers are writing for so they will get paid. Android is highly versatile and there is enough variety in hardware and manufactures that a buyer doesn't feel pigron holed. If you do choose to go this ...

Great! You support my statement l that there is a community of die hard BB users but will it be enough to sort all new hardware and a whole new OS? Don't misinterpret me as rooting for BB's failure I just state that this is too late. I was a hardcore Palm fan many of year ago. It pained me to see Palm fail. It started with the Centro which kept Palm on life support for about a year or so WebOS as great as it was could not overcome several obstacles. I held onto the 755P until it had to be let go then I picked up a Blackberry Style hoping it would be similar to the 755P I was sorely disappointed. ...

Yes, BB7 and prior have Pandora and other apps. BB10 will not have this available at launch. "Essential apps" as I said are merely my opinion for myself I as well as several others use Netfix, Hulu, Pandora and Gmail with quite a bit of regularity not saying it won't be developed for BB10 furthermore I am not saying the approximately 70k apps available won't expand. Clear (formally Clearwire) is in so deep to Sprint that they haven't even been able to meet their interest on their corporate loans let alone you could forget about any payment according to the terms of the agreement. LG has been an imitator more than an innovator. They are so sad that they are rarely ever named in Apple's notorious lawsuits (and we KNOW just how SHY Apple is when it comes to naming defendants, don't we). Great feedback! You see, from a business prospective; a subscriber will pay the $10 MRC although NOT happy about it this would encourage them to migrate to CDMA sevices.
