Swype Keyboard

Personally, my new must-have feature is the Swype keyboard. I tried a Samsung Focus for a week, and while the touch response and the keyboard was fantastic, it didn't have the Swype entry system, so I went back to my Galaxy S. I don't want to use a keyboard if it isn't Swype. I can even enter text into my Tab one-handed (hold the Tab by the edge, and Swype with my thumb). Other hands ...

Epic screen better

Resolution doesn't tell the whole story. Put the Epic screen beside the iP4 screen, and then see which is better. The colour, clarity, and brightness of the super AMOLED is amazing. You can't see the glass. It looks like you can touch whatever is on the screen. With the iP4, you can still tell you're looking through a couple of layers of glass and air. Colours look washed-out, compare to super AMOLED, as ...

Well, I'm no "hater". I own stock in RIM, and I'm Canadian, but I've got to say that I'm not surprised in the stock dip. I don't think it's solely due to the overseas BBM crap. I can't begin to describe how underwhelmed I am by the Torch, and by BB6 OS. They improved things, and almost caught-up to iOS and Android 2.1/2.2, but they didn't innovate a single thing further. I wish I sold my ...

Re: Fast way to toggle swype/regular keyboard?

in the Article: Review: Samsung Captivate forum

Not sure what's harder about using the Swype keyboard in the browser (you can poke the keys just like the regular keyboard - you don't HAVE to Swype). BUT, as far as a quicker way to change input types, whether it's the browser or a text message, tap once in the field you want to edit, then do it again but press and hold it this time. A window asking which input method you want will open up. ...

There are modes for "Night", "Fireworks", and "Candlelight", but I can't tell you how well they work. ISO settings go up to 800.

I know a guy who owns a ton (6 figures) of Apple stock. He LOVES his iPhone (and iPad). He tried the Galaxy S screen side-by-side with his iPhone, and he said the Galaxy S screen touch response is better. He was really impressed by the Galaxy S. The screen is frickin amazing!

Re: Omnia Review after long ownership - The jury is still out

Hi Luigi, Are you using Task Manager regularly? Whenever I hear complaints of things freezing or being slow in WinMo, I suspect that too many apps are open. Just in case you aren't aware, it's a quick swipe from the bottom of the screen toward the middle. Then tap the "End all tasks" button on the screen. Should speed-up noticeably at that point. A few small apps running won't bother it much, but if you just used PowerPoint, ...

Capacitance vs. Resistive Touch Screens
Jun 15, 2009, 3:21 PM
in the Article: Samsung Omnia II & Jet forum

Not sure why you dump on resistive touch screens? Both screens have their advantages: I prefer resistive, as I can use it with gloves on, or with anything pointy to use as a stylus. Ladies like resistive as they can use their finger nails. Multi-touch has it's place, but I don't want that functionality as much as I want to be able use a stylus or finger nail any old time I want to. Other users will have more desire ...

The most unoriginal is the iPhone 2.0. That was pretty lame follow-up.
