GASP! It's a public forum! WTF is someone doing on here if they aren't a U.S. Cellular employee? On a P-U-B-L-I-C forum.

Re: Customers NOT in 3G markets...

Ok, I found someone in a 3G network to order it for me... Will the android marketplace work in my dinky non-3G area? I know I won't get full potential out of the phone, but I am mature enough and have worked wireless enough not to throw a hissy-fit. I just want to make sure I have a grasp on the limitations of the phone before I purchase.

You could see lower monthly prices across the board. I buy all my phones used so I don't have to deal with contracts and when I see a phone I want, I buys it, don't care what provider. I would love to be able to buy ONE phone and try out each network as I see fit.

Re: Really why Verizon bought Allel..........
Sep 29, 2008, 8:12 PM
in the Alltel forum

The real reason it happened: Verizon had money to invest and Alltel was available for purchase. Sure Alltel might not have been Mr. Right, but it was Mr. Right Now. Also more subscribers and one less competetitor= more ways to screw customers!

I heard that U.S. Cellular has started accepting food stamps as payment now. Seems that is the only way that half their customer base can pay the bill.

Tethering My Blackberry as a modem

How do I do that? I have the Pearl 8100 and want to tether my laptop, do I need extra software? Whats the process here?

I agree with you that customer service is very important, but you shouldn't have to sacrifice good coverage to recieve it. You should get a Hot-Spot enable phone and add the @ Home router to your service package that way you can get VOIP when you are in your house! I know the Blackberry Curve and the Samsung Katalyst are @ home enabled and there are plenty more. Talk to your local T-mobile rep, they will hook you up!

That's not part of the contract. That's called advertising. Two didderby things. And yes I got out of the contract with no ETF.

Im not arguing that activations have not always been around, I'm saying that until myhtos was launched, activation fees were waived for over a year... and all of a sudden it was neccessary to hike phone pricing and pricing for some services. HOW was that something better? What is this "something better"? Is it customer service? Not according to JD Power and Associates, T-Mobile is the best there. Is it the best phone? Because though selection has improved, USC ...

If the G1 is successful, the entire wireless industry could change forever. When you remove the need for proprietary OS's by the providers, you could buy a phone like you would a TV and pay as you go for whatever service you like. No more contracts, no BS... It would force carriers to invest in better coverage, faster networks, and be more competetive with pricing and plans. The dynamic of how cell phones are bought with a service contract ...

Luckily Goldman Sachs is well diversified and highly liquidable, they have made the righ the hedges for this downturn. After the bailouts, they will be the leading edge of the NEW investment banks and since they will be able to be invloved and lobbying the legislation of the new regulations and restrictions, they will be the one of the firsts to use those to their advantage. motosux said everything I would have, so on that note, thank you motosux. And as for the current crisis, I never said that was going to be the fall of USCC... What does affect them is that their "cash cow" markets are having some competetion introduced to them. Also, you realize that a major source of revenue is the roaming partnerships that they have, and as other carriers expand into the market, that source of revenue disappears and they will be ...

Why did they raise their rates, bring back the activation fees, and are still not even close to offering good high speed data access? Is it because they are spending every ounce of cash available on a marginal advertising campaign? Or are they just biding their time before TDS sells them off. You do realize USC biggest asset is inbound roaming from Verizon customers? ANd Verizon is aggressively expanding and using less and less (especially with the addition of 85% ...

Where in the terms does it state there is a minimum amount to be considered adverse. None. The contract states that if there are changes that the consumer does not agree with than they have a right to terminate with out penalty.

Absolutley I don't disagree with that at all. I just dont use the line anymore, so why wouldn't I take advantage of a loophole in the Terms of Service that US Cellular provided? Thats what it comes down to. Also, its fun winning one, the whole David vs. Goliath mentality.

Precisely. I am supposed to get a call back from a retention representative today. I argued on the phone for about 45 minutes yesterday. I will keep you posted on how this turns out. And just because USC is being a pain in my @$$ and not honoring their contract, I will be sending this info out to The Consumerist and filing a consumer complaint. "Believe in something better..." Canvasing. I do this once a month and it usually brings me in a couple lines or a renewal every month. Go shop in the mall and any retail store in your neighborhood and strike up convos with associates and other patrons about anything and gradually bring it into cell phones. People always complain about their cell phones, so, there you go, you have an oppurtunity to talk about USC, give them a business card and invite them into ...

But thats part of the included features. And when I signed the contract, a difference in rates could affect my decision to sign the contract or not. It was listed in the brocure and I was told that .20 a message was my rate. Changing that rate is a breach of contract, is it not?

T-Mobile is honest when it comes to service. If you want to eliminate the dead zone problem in your house, add the Unlimited at Home with a Curve and get high speed wireless in your home and unlimited calling. For $10 bucks a month, you cant beat it. I live in Heyworth and my house is a dead zone so I got the router and its like having a tower in your home. To have a Blackberry and get ...

So U.S. Cellular changed their Pay as you Go text message rates from $0.20 to $0.25. My question is, does USC Terms and Agreements allow for a Materially Adverse Change of Contract, similiar to what Verizon had last year? I have been trying to get out of my contract for sometime as I am no longer in the calling area. When I signed the contract I was on pay as you go texting and used it on a regular ...
