The Mystery 0f "Project Dark"
Oct 9, 2009, 7:09 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

So for those of us PhoneScoopers that frequent tmonews.com, there has been a lot of talk about Project Dark, a seceret t-mobile project that is supposedly meant to launch t-mobile off of the number 4 natinoal cell carrier spot. there have been rumors that it's going to involve a new handset lineup, plan restructuring, rebranding, or all/none of the above. Has anyone heard anything different?

The only way a contract gets extended without an equipment upgrade is if you alter your rate plan when you have less than a year left on your contract. It gets extended a year from the date of the change. As far as I know, every carrier except sprint has this policy. You can add and remove FEATURES at any time, but changing the actual rate plan will extend it. If you have more than a year left, you ...

Weren't they buying out Sprint? It's a different story. They buy them, they do whatever they want with it. But yes, it will be a tremendous mess to try and make both networks compatible. However, if done correctly, would be a very smart move. It just has to be presented perfectly to the FCC or the chances of it getting approved will be pretty much zero lol

Re: Contract VS FlexPay
Aug 6, 2009, 2:08 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

Flexpay Annual can roam just as any t-mobile customer with a regular contract. Flexpay Monthly, however, is glorified prepaid. And just like prepaid, they only get reception on native networks. Meaning that they can't take advantage of any of t-mobile's roaming partners.

Re: Contract VS FlexPay

They may want to pay more, but paying $350 for a blackberry 8320 instead of $75 may make people reconcider. Especially since you still have to pay the bill upfront as well.

That's complete horse plop. Flex pay No-Contract and regular contracted accounts have only two differences: 1) There is no contract 2) There is 1/3 the coverage. Just like prepaid, flex-pay with no contract runs on the native network only, no roaming.

I would beg to differ. About 50% of the radioshack sales force are well educated about the products they carry. The other 50%, not so much. I used to work for the shack to, and along with the comission, the employees have been going down hill. I'm not trying to insult anyone on here who works for the shack, because by being here you wish to learn more about the products you carry. For others, again, not so much.

It's not that positive thinking will get a sale. Positive thinking will make you a happier person, which will in turn make people want to do more business with you. Wouldn't you want to do business with someone who was smiling and happy over someone who looked upset and sulking? It simply gives you more oppertunity to sell, not sell for you. I'm a firm believer in this theory, but it's definitly not the be-all-end-all of sales. Plus it ...

Abraham Lincoln "I reunited the union, so why not reunite your family with the blackberry 8900. ::ring:: Hey! I just got a BBM from John Wilks Booth. Good thing I have the preloaded GPS." Only if the price point is lowered to maybe $80-$100 after mail-in rebate. Right now for consumers there is absolutly no advantage to purchasing the Highlight over the Behold. Once the price point is lowered so cost-concious people can get a touch screen phone, it will take off like a rocket.

As far as the signature goes, I haven't the foggiest. But there is a free app that I've used for years called JabpLite. It's basically a register for your blackberry. you can have a bunch of accounts in them and just keep track of your purchases as you make them. It's not in App World though. you simply need to google "jabplite download blackberry ota"

Re: Why does T-Mobile USA refuse to carry LG phones?
Jul 15, 2009, 3:26 PM

It's actually quite the opposite for T-Mobile. Samsung is our biggest supplier and has high quality phones, even if they don't feel like it. Aside from stupid people, they don't really get returned all that often. the motorolas get returned more than anything. I used to work for an at&t retailer, and LG was a pretty sturdy phone back then. at least t-mo is finally getting back in to sony erricsons.

Re: Dash 3G is here
Jul 10, 2009, 6:52 PM

I honestly don't think it's going to be a good seller. It's only $10 less expensive than the G1 was when it first launched, and it's nothing all that special. It's a ramped up dash, and it looks sweet, but it's just too high a price point for something that doesn't really have a "WOW" factor like the G1, Mytouch 3G, or TouchPro2 will have.

Re: Upgrade question
Jul 9, 2009, 10:32 AM

Under normal circumstances, this would be right. However, T-Mobile, like every other carrier, has required the data plans on the MyTouch3g, G1, sidekicks, dash, dash 3g, touchpro2, and blackberries 8320 and 8900. With this required data goes an instant rebate making these phones the price that is stated on the websites. in order to qualify for the instant rebate, the data plan MUST be on the line that is being upgraded. In addition, the data plan cannot be removed ...

The sidekick is only a post exchange if you do not have insurance. Add insurance to your account, wait a week, and thenit will become a pre-exchange where you get the phone first and send it back in the prepaid box they send it in. If they give you trouble adding the insurance, PM me and I can add it for you.

Re: Verizon Wireless Network Extender
May 29, 2009, 6:58 PM
in the Verizon forum

My guess is no. They're capitalizing on t-mobile's mistake with their @home service by incorporating the GPS primarily for out of the country usage, and as a secondary purpose the 911 calls. The 911 address can always be programed in after it's connected to the network, but if the unit were able to function without the GPS it could be taken out of the country and used for free roaming. not that it wouldn't be a bad idea and ...

::sigh:: the G2 is not going to be comming out till summer 2010. the Magic will be comming out for t-mobile during the holiday season. Everyone thinks that the Magic is the G2. The Magic is the exact same thing as the G1, but with no keyboard. The G2 will be a continuation of the G1, with a touchscreen and keyboard.

Re: Indoor coverage
May 21, 2009, 6:04 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

T-Mobile USA bought out voicestream, who started as omnipoint. Since the beginning they used the 1900mhz spectrum. 850mhz was used by a few smaller companies, so they made roaming agreements for where t_mobile didn't have reception to expand their footprint. Unfortunatly the higher frequency gives very poor penetrating power when it comes to buildings and such.

t-mobiles primary frequency is 1900mhz. It only uses 850mhz for roaming.

Re: FlexPay Question
May 8, 2009, 10:29 AM

Ask the rep to figure out what is going on. It could be that there's an error in the system, you have a block on your credit, you have a past due t-mobile/voicestream/omnipoint account, or your credit has gone down severely since you activated with verizon. It's all a possibility. If you credit is truely good, you should be able to bring a copy of your credit report from one of the three credit companies, bring it to the ...

if they work on their credit, they can rerung their information in 3 months. you can also call activations and see if their N class is because of a past due account, a no-hit (absolutly no credit history to speak of), credit block, or an error in the system.

My company does not charge restocking fees, so in the sense of getting a cheaper phone now and exchanging it for the right phone within the trail period, i'm all for it. especially in sales you want to try to get a phone out and contract signed right there and then because there is no guarantee that the customer will come back to you when they have the money to get the phone. Re: Blackberry Curve 8900 & wi-fi & data plan required?
Apr 13, 2009, 9:42 AM
in the T-Mobile forum

this is true, but the true value of a data phone is being able to access the internet wherever you are. Wifi is not the most available comodity, so being able to get your sports scores, movie times, emails, directions, etc whenever you want is a great advantage. and you do lose out on features when you don't have a data plan. for example, the blackberry's key feature is push email, which is basically made null when not on ...

With t-mobile the only phone that actually requires a data plan is the G1. The blackberry is not required, but i personally don't see the point in getting a data phone with no data. Your just getting an obnoxiously big phone then.

future-date the activation with the ports. Most companies will let their sales associates future-date an activation 30 days. So if their contract isn't up for 3 weeks, you can give them the phones today and their service and numbers wont be started or ported until their contract officially ends.
