Softbank's LTE network uses the same standards and frequencies as Clearwire's planned LTE network, which means compatible handsets. The combined company would have somewhere between 80 and 90 Million customers, giving them greater leverage to negotiate with handset and equipment suppliers. Softbank has probably also reached the limit of domestic expansion in Japan and needs to look elsewhere for growth. In spite of it's size Sprint's market cap makes it a cheap buy for Softbank. HTC has somehow managed to make it possible to connect HDMI and micro USB through the same port. Whats more the phone apparently can charge through HDMI as well as USB and HDMI output mirrors what is on the phones display instead of just working when the video player is active. The eligibility requirements are due to change in April and then there will be two tiers: Premier Silver and Premier Gold. Most premier customers qualify for an upgrade at 10 months. It's also likely that anyone who payed full retail for the original Evo will be in their upgrade window, though those folks probably won't mind paying full retail for the new version.

I've had one for over a month now and while it works on at&t's network I wouldn't recommend it. I work in an area that has 3g service but has poor reception due to the amount of matter between me and the rest of the world. I found out very quickly that unless I switch the phone to GSM only mode at work I have to deal with the following: *Battery almost dead by the end of my eight hour ...
