Contactless credit cards work, too
Aug 21, 2018, 11:46 AM
in the Article: Apple Pay Expands to Costco Warehouse Stores forum

No need to drag out the phone, turn it on, enter a PIN and plop the phone hear the terminal if one has a contactless credit card. They work also on the Costco T&P enabled terminals. No battery power required.

Disadvantages

in the Article: 5 Reasons to Buy the Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus forum

No mention in the article of disadvantages of an unlocked phone, WiFi calling is a feature I can't live without, as the signal is weak in my home. AT&T, for one, does not enable WiFi calling on unlocked phones.

Re: Samsung Pay works at Target

in the Article: CurrentC, an Apple Pay Competitor, Is Delayed forum

Is that by swipe to simulate a magnetic strip on a credit card, or tap and pay? The last time we used a non-Target credit card at Target, we got hit with a bogus $750 online charge.

Re: That 13% accounts for all vampire power

in the Article: California First to Levy Cell Phone Charger Regulations forum

maokh said: It is true...about 10-13% of all electricity is standby/vampire/phantom power. But this includes everything from microwaves to dvd players to wall warts. ... Even 1% savings on this massive scale is a lot of energy.... But 1% is still 1%, and if your electric bill is $2000 for the year, and you dutifully unplug every unused charger daily, you will save $20 in a year. Good. That will help pay for the cost of ...

Reading the negatives
Dec 17, 2011, 5:49 AM
in the Article: Review: Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Verizon Wireless forum

Most of the negative comments on the Nexus focus on the phone; its sound, call strength. Then the reviewer seems to highly recommend the device. Perhaps it should be called the Nexus Pocket Computer and drop the phone part. After all, who uses a smartphone as a phone anymore?

Re: Anyway to disable the side button from turning on Vibrate?
Sep 28, 2005, 5:22 AM
in the Kyocera SoHo KX1 forum

Yes, don't hold down the side button :) I have the same problem that occasionally I squeeze that button and set the phone to vibrate only and then wonder why I missed a call. But I find the convenience of being able to turn the ringer off easily outweighs the problem caused by once in a while accidentally squeezing that button.

Re: HELP ME!!

in the phonescoop.com forum

Is there a way that "blake" could modify the post and delete the email addy? I use a hotmail address for posting on newsgroups and would normally get 20 to 30 spams per day, until I put a filter stating that the subject line must contain the word "hotmail", otherwise the email is trashed. The filter doesn't reduce the spam flow through the 'net, but cuts down dramatically what gets into my inbox. Chose the word "hotmail" so ...
