Buy iPhone 4 from Best Buy Mobile or Verizon?
May 2, 2011, 10:03 PM
in the Apple iPhone 4 (CDMA) forum

I was wondering if anyone can share any positive or negative experiences with purchasing iPhone 4 from Best Buy Mobile. I could hold out for the iPhone 5, but I have been holding out for the iPhone 4 since March 2010. Now that it has arrived, I find myself wanting to wait to purchase until after Apple's WWDC in early June, to see if a credible (from the source: Apple) eta on iPhone 5 is revealed. My parents have had ...

I would think this would be avail more like 2 months from now than 2 weeks from now--it doesn't even have an FCC ID listed on Phone Scoop yet. It appears to me that the new Samsung 4G phone for Verizon will be the next one released as it already has an FCC ID on March 1st, or the LG Revolution which obtained its FCC ID March 8th. It appears that Bionic will be the last one ...

1st Verizon 4G phones will be out in a matter of months, not weeks, is the latest info. They pulled back on the HTC T-Bolt release due to software issues and it was scheduled for a 2/24 release.

You can also accomlish this via Google Voice I believe. That is where you get a Google Voice number and tell whomever you want to block to call that number instead.

I was in VZW retail store the other day and phone is being delayed due to software issues. It seems we may be waiting a couple more months for this phone to become available, as he hinted its release would now be much closer to the Bionic which seems to be a May-June release timing.

I was in VZW retail store the other day and the salesman told me tBolt was scheduled for avail 2/24 but has been delayed due to software issues. He said they wanted to ensure a successful launch of the 4G phones. He hinted that the release timing will be fairly close to the Bionic now, which was not expected anytime soon. Looks like we may be waiting a couple more months for this phone to be ...

Phone obtained FCC ID March 1st, so I would expect Verizon to make it avaiable by mid-April.

LG Dare doesn't suck. I am still using it for going on 3 yrs, and can't decide to jump to iPhone 4 or wait for iPhone 5 or 4G phones to come out. I could continue on my Dare into the summer to wait for iPhone 5, Dare is still meeting my needs (but I use it without a data plan and only use it for voice and text).

Motorola Droid 1st generation does voice to text, so I would assume all Android phones can do this

There are thousands of other people with the same complaint I have, and Google has not addressed it yet -> http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/d etail?id=4547 I would be interested in the name of that app for Android that globally increases font size as can be done on the iPhone. I know there is one that exists, but it requires one to root their phone to install it.

You support my point. You wear and rely on glasses, I only wear glasses while sitting at a computer, and my distance vision without glasses is 20/20. If I wore corrective lenses all the time like you do I would not have an issue with the font size on Android OS. There are thousands of other people with the same complaint I have, and Google has not addressed it yet -> http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detai l?id=4547 By the way, I am not a ...

Adjustable Font Size, which is HUGE for those over 40 with 20/20 vision and only relying on reading glasses for small print.

Because Android OS has yet to natively support Adjustable Font Size like iPhone or my long in the tooth but still hanging on LG Dare. If you root the Android phone there is a Font Size app that can be installed, but who wants to go through that hassle? Anyone in their mid-40's or older whose eyes are relying on reading glasses or a cheater magnifier for small print but otherwise has 20/20 vision will find Android OS unusable. The other ...

Asif, Thanks for the reply. I looked at the Voyager, but the slight increase in size and bulkiness is enough to make it not of interest to me. I played with the Env2 in the Verizon store and was proficient with the qwerty keyboard, but, then again, my fingers are not too large to handle the smaller keyboard. Another thing that has me interested in the Env2 is that I think I can get and keep my old Verizon ...

Using Email2 to store contact addresses?

The charging port on my 8600 broke out. Lucky for me, I am NE2 eligible in 5 days. Considering between env2 & choc 3. I played with both in the store, and neither seem to allow me to enter a text note into the Email2 contacts field. It seems they have placed an edit on this field to be in email address format. This was a disappointment to me. Does anyone know of a ...
