"...you still have to admit it's not the nicest looking phone on the market..." I agree completely but that statement is highly subjective. :P

False comparisons...

Stock comparisons or not, you're downloading apps and applying patches to give the Droid the functionality it claims to have over the iPhone yet you don't include all the "jailbreak" features that adds to the iPhone??? Regardless of whether or not one "thinks" they should jailbreak is not debatable, the jailbreak "option" is there and takes less time than it does to install an app on either the Droid or the iPhone. So please start comparing apples ...

I'm probably going to give you more information than you would like but my goal is to simply put things into better perspective. :) What I am not going to do is tell you which phone you should pick or which carrier you should choose because this is entirely subjective. To start with, there is no such thing as a carrier specific tower regardless of what anyone might try to tell you. FCC regulations state that any tower built ...

I'm glad to hear my thoughts are appreciated! Thanks! I do need to make one correction though... I stated that iPhone is "finger" touch requiring a small amount of heat thus disabling the use of a stylus. This isn't exactly what I meant to say. What I meant (in a more technical sense) is that the iPhone and iPod Touch have electrostatic screens which sense the small amount of static produced by a human touch. Although ...

I wouldn't go as far as saying the 9700 is a lot like the iPhone... maybe in the sense that it's touch screen but you really cannot compare the two on equal levels. First... the iPhone is "finger" touch while the 9700 is "pressure" touch. Meaning a stylus will not work on the iPhone as it requires a small amount of heat detected off the user's finger. The 9700 is pressure touch so that you can use a ...

Built-in ringtone? You mean factory ringtones? You will not be able to copy those over to a new phone. At least there is no way that I'm aware of aside from playing the ringtone on the old phone while recording it as a new sound on the new phone. :) If your old phone is supported by BitPim, you might be able to find the ringtone you want in there and copy it. Then convert ...

Oh yeah... also be sure to remove the plastic protective covering off the screen. :) Using the screen without a protective cover is much better, even though you may get scratches over time. The phone was "never" meant to be used with a protective cover. Friend of mine decided not to get this phone because the touch aspect was flaky with the factory protective cover... oh well... his loss not mine. :) He's ...

I prefer simply copying MP3s over to the memory card. It's every bit as easy as iTunes if not easier... simply drag and drop whatever music you want into the "my_music" folder. :) Ringtones are just as easy... edit an MP3 (select a portion you want as a ringtone) or even convert any other audio file into an MP3, drop it in your "my_sounds" folder, then send it to yourself as a Picture Message. When you receive ...

There is no official word from Verizon when these applications will become available for the vx9700. A lot of these applications are from 3rd party vendors, even if they have "VZW Exclusive" tagged to it. The last time I spoke with Verizon I was told that consumers normally hear about release dates before Verizon does as many of these 3rd party vendors have direct access to post updates and new releases. I'm anxious myself for ESPN ...

copy them to a MicroSD card from the EnV2... MySounds folder... put the card into the Dare and send each sound as a pix message to yourself and save as ringtone.

This depends entirely on what your customers actually mean... if they mean songs purchased, ripped, or converted to iTunes then no. At least not the "native" iTunes format. iTunes itself will only sync to the iPod or iPhone... not a non-apple cell phone. Their music would have to be converted into MP3 format and placed within a folder on the MicroSD card (I believe it's MyMusic folder or something similar) in order to play them on ...

From what I've seen you cannot adjust the strength for calls... only the menu. Unless it's buried in there somewhere.

Honest reviews??? Isn't a review an honest "opinion" from a single person's perspective? :) Obviously "your" perspective is that this phone is not good... so... write a review as to why you think this. Don't tell other people that their reviews are worthless for reasons that simply differ from your own opinion. Wars have been fought for far less! I say read all the reviews and try the phone out at a Verizon store... but ...

Also be aware that the manual contains the recognized points in writing each letter. Everyone writes in a different style and this phone tries to incorporate most styles but if you're "too abnormal" :) you may have a bit of difficulty. It's definitely not the best recognition software I've used but I have seen worse!
