Doesn't/didn't the Touch Pro 2 have this?

in the Article: New Version of HTC Sense Revamps Lock Screen forum

I thought the Touch Pro 2 already had many of these features, but I'm not sure if they were stock or cooked in by ROM makers. Either way, it seems to me that Android continues to look like what I saw on Windows Mobile with SPB Mobile Shell, Cookies Home Tab, and other programs. It definitely seems like a developer/hacker's phone. I hope that iOS and Windows Phone will open up a little more in the coming year.

Does the Epic 4g play all/most/some/no Flash games w/Froyo (Android 2.2)?

in the Samsung Epic 4G (Galaxy S) forum

I'm choosing beween an Epic 4G, EVO 4G, iPhone 4, and Samsung Focus as my next device. Being able to use the Epic 4G's keyboard to play Flash games would be an important factor if it has that capability. Has anyone here taken the plunge and updated to the unofficial (right?) release of Android 2.2?

I saw the weight in comparison to the Q9c, Touch Pro 2, and Snap and figured that it would feel really light. More important than that to me: 1) How's the keyboard? The phone appears to be the successor to the Q9c rather than the Ace when it comes to size, but the keyboard doesn't look nearly as refined. 2) Does the phone look better in hand than it does on the 'net? 3) Any idea if it can be used as a wifi ...

Is there a lot less blur when snapping pictures of moving objects? The first gen' iPhone does a much better job than my Touch Pro when it comes to getting something in focus when taking pictures of moving objects. I'm not sure if it's just a shutter speed thing (I haven't tried burst or sports mode on my TP) or if it has to do with the camera's focus. Thanks.

You miss the point. It isn't merely the cost of the plan. It's Apple supporters constantly bringing up the iPhone as a device that doesn't get left behind (read: you don't have to buy new hardware to get new software). So, because my 1st Gen' iPhone has been left behind, I have to spend $100-200 for new hardware if I want new software that my CURRENT phone can support. I know that selling my old iPhone will off set ...

What happened to not having to upgrade hardware to get OS updates?
Sep 5, 2009, 4:55 PM
in the Article: AT&T: iPhone to Get MMS September 25 forum

I've read many complaints that Windows Mobile users had to upgrade/change their hardware in order update the OS while Apple supported all versions of their hardware. Is this the first case where they haven't? It's upsetting that I'll have to pay an extra $10 per month AND shell out $100-200 to get MMS when new hardware doesn't seem to be necessary. Darn thing still won't fully multi-task either.

I still can't believe they're asking $!50 AFTER MAIL-IN rebate and didnt include WiFi. I know we save in the long run by paying less for service, but I was hoping for many reasons to upgrade from my Q9c and stay away from my Touch Pro. I didnt like the keyboard on the Treo Pro so that isnt an option. Hopefully, the new Ace will knock my socks off.

Obviously, I don't understand how the phone works and probably miss the obvious applications that use data in the background. I only check e-mail and browse the web when I have a Wifi connection available. I don't use Google Maps. I just remembered that visual voicemail uses data. What else is there? I'd rather have regular voicemail and be restricted to wifi use for data than pay the extra $.

Had I known that I could unlock the iPhone and take it to T-Mobile, that's exactly what I would've done. I'm paying $20-per-month for a service I don't use.

I actually searched last night for all the videos and screen shots I could find to make sure there was no task module :( Hopefully there are people out there working on a program that allows us to customize the home screen. Where the new home screen disappoints is that it completely removes the widget-like Today Screen Plug-In architecture from previous versions. Widgets are something of a hot trend right now, and Microsoft essentially had a huge head-start on that with its Today Screen Plug-Ins. Quite a few good third-party ones are available. While the replacement home screen is nice out of the box, Microsoft has not only broken compatibility with old plug-ins, but failed to provide a new API for ...

It appears to have some sort of multi-platform IM program pre-installed like the MDA and SDA. I've never used either, but like you, I can't think that it's going to be anything near what the SideKick's is. Regarding the OS, you're correct, it's the smartphone edition of Windows Mobile 5.

From what I'm seeing on T-Mobile's website, the SideKick Unlimited plan is still $20-a-month. Are you referring to their data only plan? My complaint about the plan is that I'm paying extra for T-Mobile hotspots. I'd like to have the option of using a data plan w/o T-Mobile's hotspots like they have for the Pearl ($20-a-month). Regardless, these two devices aren't for the same demographic. Sure, a lot of non-business users like myself are interested in this device, but it ...

It should work (it works on my 2125) so my guess is that you didn't download the right version. http://corecodec.org/frs/?group_i d=53&release_id=222#r222 Scroll down to TCPMP for Windows Mobile and download: tcpmp.smartphone.0.72RC1.exe if you want to install TCPMP while your phone is synching with your PC or tcpmp.smartphone.0.72RC1.cab if you want to install TCPMP from your phone. Only if you're not driving. A phone keypad pops up on the screen when you're using the phone and it's very easy to dial, but you obviously don't get the same feedback from a touchscreen that you do from a physical button. Use the voice dial feature if you need to call someone while driving.

It works fine with GMail. Well, it downloads the e-mails just fine. The problem is that it removes all of your old e-mails from your phone's inbox (yes, even those that are unread) on each sync. From what I've read on the 'net the problem is with WM5. You can always use the web to retrieve old e-mails, but that'll obviously be a problem if you sync regularly (every 15 mins) because you won't know what you missed.

Coming from a SideKickII I'd say the the volume isn't nearly loud enough. My friend's old Nokia 3100 sounds better than this. What's wierd is that I've had times where the speaker was loud enough to use outside and times where I'd have to be in a library to hear it clearly. If you're going to use the speakerphone regularly, I'd try out the Nokia 6682 in addition to this phone (based on my experience with my friend's Nokia). The previous ...

How about the difference in memory (64MB on the SMT 5600 to 8MB on the 6682)? The HTC 2125 is going to come out soon and it'll have the same feature set as the 6682 (1MP camera, EDGE, improved resolution) so I'm wondering if the memory should be a significant factor in my decision making process.
