Re: Good News
Couldn't have said it better myself. Wirefly is probably one of the most unethical sales site I've seen in quite some time. Phones are cheap, but you almost have to pray that they get it right, otherwise, you're screwed...whether you have AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint...
Re: I Think...
Couldn't agree more. Nokia is still crazy popular over seas. Putting a Windows Phone 7 in the place of Symbian is going to work so well for Microsoft. Although I am surprised Nokia didn't jump on the Android bandwagon...kind of glad they didn't...
Re: More proof that. . .
I hate to admit it, but I think I have to agree with you. I mean, if you want to prove you are the best thing out there, then why not let this simple feature be offered and reap the benefits from it? Especially since there are finite data plans. If people use more, AT&T gets paid more. Good for everyone-ish. I just don't get it.
Re: I'm Ready To Be Throttled
What are you guys doing to use that much data? Is there no wifi near you at all?
Step back to unlimited?
I keep wondering if they are just going to fold and bring back the unlimited plan. I've been hearing rumors that they are secretively giving the unlimited plan to customers who are looking to switch to Verizon. I know this is tethering, but I'm wondering where this will go...
This isn't really bad for AT&T...
Okay...so I work for AT&T. Not a fan boy or anything, they just pay my bill. I've been with them for about two years now and although it's upsetting that they got rid of their unlimited plan, I don't think it's the worse thing in the world.
Ever since AT&T lowered the data plan from a solid $30 to either $15 or $25, I've seen more people who would have otherwise went for a messaging phone now going for ...
I'm sure he will be back...
...to talk about the iPhone 5.
But is this one different from his last leave of absense? Last time, he completely stepped back and had someone take over all his responsibility. This time he still has a hand in what's going on, just not the day to day...I dunno.
Re: AT&T Vs. Verizon Network Wars...
I think I'd take consistency more than speed. Granted I've never had the problems people talk about with their iPhones, but I wonder how much of a difference it will be.
I do wish I had the wifi hot spot though...but this is why competition is so amazing. One will force the other to innovate. AT&T no longer has a strong hold on Verizon so they will have to be innovative and offer for. It works out for everyone.
Re: how so?
Verizon never dissed the iPhone. In fact, I think no one has ever dissed the iPhone itself. It's always mocking AT&T.
AT&T Vs. Verizon Network Wars...
The biggest question is whether Verizon's network will handle the iPhone. If it does, then AT&T will look even worse because AT&T said the iPhone brought more strain than any other smartphone. If Verizon can tackle it, then AT&T has some 'splainin to do. But if Verizon buckles, then they won't exactly be the nation's most reliable network.
But the thing is, I don't think you are going to see an immediate impact either way. Sure, there will be people ...
Re: who has a mac , but uses windows phone?
Well...I have a Windows Phone 7 and a Mac. The WP7 is my work phone and my iPhone 4 is my personal one. So there are some out there that have it.
My biggest problem is I've been unable to sync my contacts. I can sync music, movies, photos, but I saw nothing for contacts or calendars. Seems odd for a Smartphone syncing system...
Re: And then...
Why do we even care if it's LTE, WiMAX, or just plan 3G. When it all comes down to it, we only care about speed. Go with whomever is faster.
How about they fix...
How about they fix those speeds to hit 100mbps...?
Refund option...
Man, I wish that was one thing Apple let you do with the App Store. I think people are a bit less willing to take risk on apps that have only a few reviews, which kind of hurts up and coming developers.
But man, I didn't know Apps couldn't be larger than 50MB. I've got a game on my iPhone that's around 400MB. I wonder why they made such a restriction...
Here's hoping...
They stop making fuggin horrible phones...
Always tell the truth?
So the developers are to come up with their own criteria of what's good for all and what's mature? What's the standard?
Re: about damn time
I am too, but what I hate is the lying to customers who don't know any better. Sprint is telling people to pay an extra $10 for 4G when you could get the same speed from AT&T and T-Mobile for no additional cost.
Re: about damn time
Sales people (like myself) are the lowest people in any of these wireless companies. We have to do exactly what corporate tell us to do as far as how to sell certain products and what we have to label technology. Although I refuse to call LTE or WiMAX 4G, many of the employees of these companies don't do enough research themselves to actually know that the technologies aren't 4G. And even if they did, if your manager tells you ...

Re: Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
They won't...what they'll do is tell you in order for you to get your new phone, you have to change your plan...
This is the end of Net Neutrality...
How about the fact that it isn't 4G...
Calling a 3G technology "4G" is dumb...
Re: Cut the BS, EVERYONE.
No, the carriers won't sue...consumers will. In fact, all you have to do is buy an EVO...wait 30 days...then go to a lawyer and say Sprint said that you had a 4G phone, but you went online and read that the 4G they promoted isn't actually 4G and take them to court for lying to you...which is what they are doing.
Give it a few months. Sprint will for speed alone, but T-Mobile is just out right lying. At ...
Re: Cut the BS, T-Mobile!
Sprint and T-Mobile are going to get sued...I can tell you that right now. They are advertising their networks as 4G when neither one meet the 4G requirements. Someone will take them to court for lying to consumers just like they tried to sue AT&T because their iPhone 3G didn't have 3G coverage everywhere. Only Sprint and T-Mobile are actually lying...
Re: ATT still got the better deal!
Most folks with a smartphone don't go over. I think it's awesome that carriers are making smartphones more affordable. I think Verizon will keep their unlimited plan for now...but as they move to LTE, they will have a good reason to make it a finite data plan.
Saw that coming...
I am pulling for RIM...they've consistently made some pretty awesome phones unlike some companies, but the problem is, they are stuck in business. They did a decent job at getting consumers to buy Blackberries. But people bought them because they felt more "business like" not because it was truly an attractive phone to them. With iOS and Android, you've got phones made for consumers, not just business folk. And RIM just can't beat down the way of thought that ...
About effing time...
iDEN is probably the biggest reason Sprint as a company hasn't performed well. Think about it, if you had an iDEN phone and all your buddies on Sprint and Verizon have these quick smartphone and you have PTT...sweet. Chances are, you're not going to look at Sprint, but instead your buddy's network. Sprint may have taken a hit, but a good thing would have been to allow anyone on Nextel the ability to upgrade to a Sprint phone no ...
Re: Apps
I don't know if I would say "coming along nicely..." These are the apps that are on pretty much every single App Store around. Even Palm has a lot of these apps. We'll see if they can get more of the lesser known apps not made by big companies that are even more awesome than these...
Re: DOA
I gotta agree with you there... Reading the specs on the phone is just kinda sad. Im sure the phone will be fine, but why buy this when you can get a more powerful phone for the same price. Hell, by the description it doesn't really change much from the original. Feels like HP is just rushing another phone out. I feel like this one will be like the BB Torch. Fully capable but not impressive enough.
Re: You are wrong
Congrats...glorified baby sitter...
Re: You are wrong
But this isn't about the price of rates...it's about telling people they are over on the rates they signed up for. AT&T can charge $50 for 200 text if they wanted and people are willing to pay for it...that's not what this bill is about...
But since we are going to bring up AT&T...I've found AT&T actually lets you monitor your usage (as long as you are resposible enough to do it). They even make it look like a status ...
Because God help us if we were just responsible...
Should my water/gas/electric company do the same thing?
I think consumers just need to be more resposible and actually take a hard look at the plans they sign up for. It's not even that it is as difficult as reading your credit card agreement. If you are one of those people that just don't think you text that much, but you go over...well that's your fault for not monitoring it...which a lot of companies let you do online. Same ...
Kinda cool...but...
It seems as if you have to carry around two devices on the Verizon side...but this may be the start of the Apple/Verizon BFFathon...
Re: Just in time
I don't care much about MP more than I care about the clarity of the lense being used... I've seen crappy photos with 8 MP cameras because the lense is trashy.
Re: First Half 2011?
I'll get excited when we get real world speeds upward of 20mbps...
Re: A second one?
That is true...when the phone isn't broken, it works great...too bad that only lasts about 87 hours...
Is warranty exchange on speed dial 5?
Re: A second one?
Now to be fair...the LG Neon is just about as good as every other LG phone ever made in history of the company...
This shouldn't cost...
I wish this was a feature that was just offered for free with any Smartphone plan. I understand it's a way of capitalizing on insurance and extra dough, but I feel like this is one thing that should be offered to the customer for free. It was stop a lot of the headache that reps have to deal with when people lose their phones...
Re: Just pick the network you want
The problem though is you will only be able to stay on there for maybe a few more years. It will come to a point where if you want to upgrade your phone, whether it be 3G or LTE, you might have to opt into a new data plan. The easiest thing to do is say, if you want an LTE Smartphone, you have to pick out one of these data plans...or keep your grandfathered plan, but you can't ...
