more specifically i need it for the Sony Ericsson 580i so i can throw my t-mobile SIM card in it.

u can do it u just have to goto the contact in your list select edit and press the right button its there u just have to find it.

i know what unlocking a phone is but im talking about unbranding a phone it has to do with changing the firmware from my understanding
unlocking just means, like u said, the phone accepts difernt sim cards.
from what i understand unbranding has somthing to do with the actual firmware of the phone (i.e. perminant, erasable memorey like ur contacts, pictures and such)
when you unbrand the phone it changes that somhow and basically makes the phone like straight from the factory ...

if u cant get ur mp3s to work as ringtones just go to entertainment and sound recorder record the song that you (or mor speicficlly the part of the song u want) and set that as i ringtone...
i havnt gotten the memory carc yet and thats how i make all my ringtones

yah i had somthing like that happen too everytime i would take my phone out it would be on the internet, or some other feature would be activated.
i think the keys just kinda unlock to easyly like the other day i was at work and suddenly heard from my pocket this guys i knows' voicemail. lol

u know i have issues with mine too somtime and seriously wat helps mine is to give the phone a little pat on the back or summin, i kinda pet mine and watch the bars move from 1 or 2 to full instintly
maybe these phones are just tempromental lol

by unbranding wat all new things can you do cuz i have the 580 and if its worth it i mite try this.

im not sure exactly if txting is going to be the a big necessity, i mainly need it to be a well rounded phone that can take a good bit of use and is reliably conviente. also i mite be thinking sliver cause i work at a t-mobile retailer and its the best camoflauged(so to speak lol).
but would that be a good choice to go with, a sliver?, ...

Question on Metro PCS's Gsm Service
Hey i have a question im, looking to get a buisness phone for myself and ill admit as far as price and amount i have to care about staying on the payments Metro wins.
i know they do both CDMA and GSM i was wondering if its possible to unlock say a T-Mobile phone and throw one of Metro's GSM SIM cards into it.

that 3g upload is changed to 3guppies but does it charge u for use or is it just like a pay per use thing. for example: i use them to make a ringtone......................they charge me (ok)
i dont do anything with them for several months...............they still charge me(not ok)
