Try the a530, you have 2 weeks to change. I was under the impression I needed tri-mode also. As it turns ou Verizons digital network is pretty comprehensive.

I use a dual mode a530, On Long Island several of my friends have LG tri-modes. their phones switch to analog all the time, even as my Samsung is receiving 3 of 5 bars right next to them. Not really sure why but it seems to me tri-modes experience switching problems.

If you are looking in the Long Island area, I can say Verizon by far has a better signal all around. I've been told they are just as good if not better than At&t upstate. I just switched to Verizon from At&t 2 weeks ago and will never switch back. Customer service also better than At&t. Good luck

Have had verizon now for a week, Out on long Island no other company can compare. Had T-Mobile and still paying for last 2 months of AT&T. Verizon is a winner. So far only mall I've been in is Roosevelt Field, perfect reception. Have the samsung a530, I've found its reception to be far superior to my friends LG 4400 and 3100. Samsung A-650
Anyone know if this phone is coming out soon. Was considering the 4400 or 8600 but like the quality and size of the samsung better. Would be great if it comes in first 2 weeks of November.
Audiovox 8600 vs. LG 4400
Have read all pro's and con's, still can't decide. Need tri-mode, like 8600's size, but don't like reports of tinny sound and not sure of durability. Hear lots of good about LG's durability but appears to have software issues as well as easily activated quiet mode, I do carry phone in pocket most of time. Also not fond of 4400's heavier weight and reported battery usage. Anyone have experience with both models. Any help greatly appreciated.
