Nov 11, 2004, 8:41 PM
in the Verizon forum

Its been a long, long ride, a long long journey for all of us. All the bickering and fighting between both camps (Verizon and Sprint vs AWS/Cingular) has panned out to this. I told everyone a year ago, to sit back, relax and watch it happen. Now, Verizon's forum is getting the same abuse and hassle that the AWS/Cingular forums had back when Verizon dominated the market. I pulled back and just watched, shook my head, and quite often ...

Nokia phones rock man, just because they're not folders like alot of Sanyos are etc, they're pretty nice, especially their higher end ones, IE: 6820, 6620, etc. Those phones kick most Sanyos, just everyone looks at flip phones and go 'ooooh it has moving parts' and buys because of that. Motorola products are good as well, though alot of my colligues will disagree *cough* big daddy *cough*. Sprint has a much smaller network then Cingular, their no-roam plan ...

The Ogo device isn't geared towards those who have voice service, people, its geared towards those who want IM and email service on the go without forking for voice service, or fork for a PDA. :) Thats all. It doesn't come with anything else because its geared for those who don't want anything else. ^.^

Re: MORE WCDMA!? Cingular is getting a great deal
Sep 2, 2004, 11:44 PM

Umm, AT&T Wireless has contractual obligations that can still be broken if they don't continue UMTS expantion. Even after the merger nagotiations have to be put through between Cingular and DoCoMo about the contractual obligation. :)

Not nessasarily, it might offer better quality service in general once its up and running, but spectrum, and local coverage, as well as a million other things can effect your sound quality, including your phone.

Re: Explain differances between GSM and CDMA talk/standby time
Aug 30, 2004, 8:55 PM
in the AT&T forum

oh, and if the CDMA phone connects to any analog networks, the battery life drops to like nill. 8O This is 'cause analog needs more power to give the omf to send its signals, as well the signals travel further then digital signals. If at less quality.

It actually has to do more with the phone then the technology. Higher end phones usually have better battery life, in my opinion. Check some of the high end GSM phones to the high end CDMA.

Hey, Rich. I'm an employee at AWS, and want to thank you for the information that you provide on your website. This one customer called in with a new Motorola 878 and wanted to know why it couldn't download ringtones. I Had /NO/ Idea what phone that was, and looked it up in Phonescoop, voila, there it was! I advised the customer why it won't work etc and all was good. :)

Go tell this to someone who cares, in a forum thats relavent to the issue, its old news, you've beaten the dead horse way, way too many times. CDMA is a dying breed, guys, WCDMA (which is only loosely related to CDMA at all, more related to GSM really) is the way to go. Sheesh.

Oh, to respond to your thread btw, T-Mobile has better coverage (currently) on the east coast. This will change with Cingulars merger /w AWS. 8)

Re: Cingular Vs. Tmobile
May 12, 2004, 12:58 AM
in the T-Mobile forum

Cingular currently has a HAYUGE gap of coverage on the east coast. They have extensive roaming agreements with T-Mobile there. Basically, Cingular has agreements /w T-Mobile to expand coverage in their eastern markets, while T-Mobile has agreements with Cingular to expand (or, basically give them any coverage at all) in their western markets. The problem facing T-Mobile currently, is once the merger with AWS (Which had coverage in both markets, though alot more in the east), is that Cingular will ...

Re: TDMA phase out.....
May 12, 2004, 12:44 AM
in the AT&T Wireless forum

It would be fiscal sucide for AWS to up and drop their TDMA service like an ugly child, they're basically makign TDMA so terrible that customers want to come over to GSM service. This is tricky of course, and could lead to very high churn due to customers getting so upset with their service they just up and leave instead of taking the other option of migrating, THAT is why we're pushing for contracts, so we can stick them ...

By the way, might as well respond to your post. Did you know EV-DO wasn't even invented by Verizon? Sheez, if I'm not mistaken it was Qualcomm, or the CDA. They're just bringing it out on their service. Big woop, lol. Yeah, great speeds. Cool, faster then AWS currently, wow. Okay, we're over that now? Good. Verizon forks over 4 billing a year because their network is MASSIVE, nothing to do with research and upgrades, just general maintnence. Yeah, thats impressive ...

Re: Verizon always last in promotions, why?
May 10, 2004, 12:38 AM

Actually, Verizon and AT&T Wireless were the first on the market with unlimited m2m for free. Yes, Verizon is not the most economic service around, but you get what you pay for as they say. For over more, you usually get more. Not to say other companies have shoddy service (like the VZW zombies will drone on about), but Verizon does boast the phattest network in the U.S. :)

Call customer care and ask for the nearest location to you, they should have something like AWS has, where you can locate nearest stores.

Agreed, 46 million customers is a HUGE number to juggle, a loss of even a few million won't hurt. Especially if it dropps the stock prices a bit, it'll make their 41 billion more enticing.

Re: Warning to Potential New Verizon Customers
Apr 28, 2004, 11:37 PM
in the Verizon forum

You make it sound like every other of then roughly 20 providers in the U.S can't complete their calls, yet offer KICK ASS handsets in decent time periods? Don't get yourself too riled up there, the real reason VZW does 'extensive testing' is so they can stick it to the customer whenever they have any problems, by INSISTING it is fully compatable with their network, and oh btw better pay extra per month for insurance or your SOL. :P At least ...
