Verizon Down In Chicago
Just confirmed Verizon 4G & 3G is down in Chicago! Uggh...
Re: LTE SMS Problems?
Don't think is has anything to do with 4G vs 3G. I have a Samsung Fascinate and people have told me that they have received the same text twice even though I only sent it once.
4G Blackberry
The article says access to 4G for Blackberry but there aren't any 4G Blackberry devices.
Re: Verizon
Service is great!! Customer service not so much! Been with them for 9 years and wouldn't consider switching to another company.

Verizon Wireless Network Extender. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/acce ssory?action=gotoFemtocell
Click on the above link and it takes you to a page where you have to enter your zip code. Once you do it'll take you to the page with the network extender.

The device is $299.99 but there is no charge for the service.

Re: AT&T 3G MicroCell
Yes, Verizon does.
Re: Samsung Fascinate
Yep, my brother has the Charge. Great phone! The latest software update has fixed all of the problems with the Fascinate and it is back to being an excellent device.
Re: Samsung Fascinate
Yep!!! Did the software update for the Fascinate and so far so good. Sending the Droid X2 back today. Was not at all impressed with it. Choppy audio, would insert random words when composing a text message, and 4 force closes and 1 reboot.
Re: Am I the only one who has this problem?. . .
5 different Android devices and have never had that happen. It would be very frustrating and strange that it's happening across devices.
Re: Best Android?
I disagree. Battery life on the Thunderbolt is sub par. The Samsung Droid Charge is a better choice IMHO.
Samsung Fascinate
Verizon finally admits to reception problems with the Samsung Fascinate. Loved the phone but could not deal with not receiving calls. Verizon is sending out a replacement Droid X2 tomorrow.

Re: Change Phones keep Data?
Yes. And when I called I was told that it doesn't automatically drop which is strange because it's my understanding that if you try to add a smartphone it'll automatically add a data package.
Re: Change Phones keep Data?
Hi Epik!
Does it automatically drop if you activate a non-smartphone? I had to activate an old flip phone once cause my BlackBerry was stolen and the data plan stayed on for over a month and then I got a replacement BlackBerry and activated it.
Re: Change Phones keep Data?
My understanding is that it doesn't matter whether you're in or out of a contract or whether you upgrade or not. Any line that currently has unlimited data will keep that unlimited data as long as the data portion is never dropped. If you add another line to an existing family plan and the added device requires a data plan, it's my understanding that the new line will be subject to the tiered data.
Re: Change Phones keep Data?
You can change your plan you just can never drop your $29.99 data plan. If you do and then want to add data later you'll be subject to the tiered plans.
Re: So now that we have tiered data...
I have an analogy that I think works. I have high speed internet at home that I pay a set amount for every month. I attach a wireless router and share that data with my neighbor. I don't get charged more, I actually make a little money cause the neighbor and I split the cost now whereas before I was paying the entire amount.
In my opinion, if Verizon is offering a fixed amount of data then ...
Re: Droid Bionic, When?
I really wanna get excited about the Droid Bionic however, every video that I've seen of the device shows it to be sluggish!
Any thoughts????

Re: Need help with selecting new phone
Definitely go with the 4G cause data is the same price as 3G. Spend the extra money and get the Droid Charge. The LG Revolution is buggy and takes forever to charge. The Thunderbolt is a nice phone but has terrible battery life. The screen on the Charge is gorgeous and Touch Wiz in my opinion is a nice overlay for Android.
Re: Need help with selecting new phone
That's the setting. LTE is the 4G and CDMA mode will keep you in 3G only. You will still have data in 3G albeit much slower!! :-)
Re: Need help with selecting new phone
You can turn off 4G on both devices to save battery. On the Thunderbolt you have to download an app from the market to do it. On the Charge it is in the settings.
Re: how do you know
Exactly!!!! :-)
Re: Need help with selecting new phone
I would do it soon. If speed is important for you then go for 4G. My brother is a first time Android and smart phone user and he has the Samsung Droid Charge and he likes it. If you're gonna stick with 3G, I'd look at the Droid X2. I have the Droid X and I like it.
Re: Need help with selecting new phone
Whatever phone you choose get onboard now with the $29.99 unlimited data. Verizon is going to a tiered system on July 7th. I think that date is correct.
Re: BB Protect & New Data Plans
It will be grandfathered in.
Re: They are getting rid of unlimited data plans
If we already have unlimited data we should be okay according to this.

Re: Are you rooted?
Thanks!
Re: Are you rooted?
Not hacked!
Re: 12/31/1969??
Only on Android.
Re: 12/31/1969??
It's crazy, right?? I can't believe that no other Android users have experienced this. It has happened to me on 4 devices beginning with the Droid Eris (no jokes please), original Droid, Droid X, and now the Fascinate.
Guess I'll have to Google it.
David
12/31/1969??
Occasionally, when checking my Comcast and Gmail accounts on my Fascinate there will be a blank email with the date of 12/31/1969. What does it mean? I have also had this happen on my Droid X.
Thanks!

Re: Phones for the rest of us?
I'd check Ebay. Lots of good quality U.S. Cellular phones.

Yes.

Re: Blackberry
Got it!! I can't do an all touchscreen device. The Bold Touch is the best of both worlds for me.
David
Re: Blackberry
Perhaps you were referencing the BlackBerry Bold Touch which will be coming out in both a GSM and CDMA variant. It will have a 1.2 GHz processor, 8 GB of onboard memory, 720p HD video recording, dual-band Wi-Fi®, a built-in compass (magnetometer) and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. It will be running BlackBerry® 7 OS.

Re: Smartphone with best signal capability
Ironically, the one device that you will not consider (BlackBerry) is probably one of the best devices at grabbing signal. My Curve and Tour used to pull -80 dBm to -70 dBm consistently.
