On second thought, I may as well wait for Ice Cream Sandwich. It can't be long now. So April 2 or ICS, whichever is later.

Re: Leaving Sprint early for the Note

My current phone (Evo 4G) has only 512meg of internal memory and is always crashing with low memory errors (deleted lots of apps and moved others to SD card), so I really need a new phone. Hard to believe after all these years since MSDOS I'm still dealing with system memory vs extended memory! Much more than supersized when compared to the Evo. If I had the SII I'd likely wait as well. I was in the AT&T store over lunch ...

I am content with Sprint, but am not content with my phone. I MUST have the Samsung Note. I'm pretty sure horrible things will happen to me if I don't get one. Anything about Sprint getting the Note is rumour at this point. Sprint will be in a transition period with their 4G service and there is no telling what will happen. Not sure I want to ride the transition with them, though I need to research that more ...

Were you applying logic to a situation that involves hot new technology? :D I never got into drugs. This is my "crack". I MUST have the Samsung Note, and I want it NOW! That said, switching to AT&T is not looking so good. I lose unlimited data (not a big deal since I am usually under 3GB/month), unlimited texting (unless I want to pay an extra $20/month, which I don't!), and free Telenav (which is still superior to Google ...

Leaving Sprint early for the Note

I am leaving Sprint early in order to get this phone when it's released. My contract end date is March 26, so pretty close. Any tips on avoiding penalties?

Re: Disabling HTC Sense UI

What exactly about Sense is "way better" than plain Android 2.3? I can understand Sense on a Windows Mobile 6.x phone (well, except for the constant crashing that went away when I removed it), but why does Android need another interface on top of it?

EVO 3D vs Motorola Atrix 4G?
Mar 24, 2011, 1:53 AM
in the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA) forum

It looks like the two 540 x 960 pixel contenders on Sprint will be the EVO 3D and the Motorola Atrix 4G. Any opinions on the two options? Neither the 3D feature of the HTC nor the docking feature of the Motorla are relevant to me.

Disabling HTC Sense UI
Mar 24, 2011, 1:48 AM
in the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA) forum

I have been waiting for Sprint to get a 540 x 960 pixel phone. This one seems like a good candidate, but I hate the HTC Sense UI. It's especially pointless on an Android phone. How easy is it to disable Sense UI on an HTC Android phone and do you lose anything by doing so, other than a fricken huge clock that takes up way too much real estate?

High-resolution Android phones in 2011?
Mar 9, 2011, 11:54 PM
in the Rumor Mill forum

It's phone replacement time and I already have an 800 x 480 phone, so I am looking for 960 x 640 or better for my next phone. Much to my dismay, there is very little out there. The only ones listed on Phone Scoop are from Motorola. Initial rumors of the Samsung Galaxy S2 listed it with higher resolution, but now it looks like it's only 800 x 480, which is silly for a new top-end phone. Does anyone ...

Oh sure, I have the adapter. Somewhere. I certainly don't carry it on me. Or remember where I last left it. That's another mistake of the Expo - no stylus storage. So much potential, yet they missed the mark on such basic things.

Even without the marketplace on WinMo 6.5, you can still get apps through Handango and other app sites. Of course it would be a lot easier if the carriers upgraded the OS to 6.5. Only AT&T has 6.5 so far, but I am waiting since I hate the lack of headset jack and direct number keys of the AT&T unit.

3 first techs, yet they don't even have a standard headset jack! That and the lack of direct number keys make this a non-purchase for me. I have been cursing the lack of those 2 things on my MotoQ9h for over 2 years now and I will not make that mistake again.

That is all well and good, but buying a new phone with an old operating system is a hard sell. My contract is up and I am looking at new phones. One of my requirements is that it comes native with a current operating system. I don't think that is asking too much. The carriers need to step up to the plate and keep their products current. Those that do will get more business. I like the Touch Pro ...

Re: When are the Sprint stores going to get HTC Touch Pro 2 in????
Oct 21, 2009, 3:02 AM
in the HTC Touch Pro2 (CDMA) forum

I saw one in a Sprint store in Portland (OR) last week. Held it in my hand. He wouldn't let me play with it though as they had just got it in and expected to sell out. He did mention he was one of the few Sprint stores to get them so far, but it looks like you should be getting it at your local store soon. Note that is has WinMo 6.1. He had no idea what the ...

Yes, any apps compatable with your version of WinMo (6.1 or 6.5) and the Touch Pro 2 screen resolution (800x480) will work. The catch is have they programed properly to work with increasing screen resolutions? This should be a quick fix for coders to update their software, if they are actively updating their software. I will be waiting for Resco Explorer which apparently has a small bug related to WinMo 6.5. They say they will be fixing it, just ...

Sprint or Verizon?

Now that AT&T has announced, I can finally make a decision on which version of the phone to get. I have already eliminated T-Mobile and AT&T for not having a headphone jack. I have had to deal with a headphone dongle for my MotoQ9h and I couldn't tell you where the dongle is right now. I will never again buy a phone without a standard headphone jack. Both Sprint and Verizon have the headphone jack and Sprint just lowered the ...

There is a product called Emoze that I used to use. It may do what you want. It used to be somewhat buggy, but that was 2 years ago and they may have worked out the kinks by now. Right now I just have my email retrieve directly from the host servers via pop3. I have it set to leave the email on the server and delete emails from the server if I delete them from the phone. That way ...

Convoluted Email Question
Jul 9, 2008, 4:08 PM
in the Apple iPhone 3G forum

I have MANY email accounts, all of which are seamlessly delivered to my one MS Outlook mailbox. When I reply to an email, it uses the appropriate FROM address based on the TO address of the message I am replying to. I use EMOZE software to sync my Outlook inbox with my Motorola Q. It takes whatever is sitting in my inbox, regardless of what the TO address is, and copies it to the Q. If I reply from ...

I viewed many pages of news on engadgetmobile.com and any Windows Mobile phones mentioned were only 320x240. Anything specific you can link me to? The only things I have found via a Google search are "ultra-portables", basically mini laptops that are too big to have in a holster on your hip. If Apple can double the resolution without doubling the size of the phone, why can't anyone else??? Thanks, -Mike

Windows Mobile phone with higher resolutiuon than QVGA?

So far it looks like Windows Mobile is limited to 320x240. I want higher resolution, but would prefer the expandability of Windows Mobile. Is there anything on the horizon with higher resolution that will support Windows Mobile, either Standard or Pro?

I found it! In a reg editor: HKCU/Control Panel/Keybd/APP3_Path change OperaLaunch.exe to iexplore.exe Also make sure you have deselected the checkbox in the Opera settings for being the default browser. That setting affects any links you click on from email.

Emoze was recommended on another forum and it does the job. I would not sync Contacts with it as there are some bugs with that, but I can still use ActiveSync to sync other things while using Emoze for push email. And it's free! http://www.emoze.com -Mike

I have to agree that the learning curve on this is greater than it was on my 8700. There are certain things that seemed logical on the BB but illogical or hidden on WM6. Something simple like changing the icon order in folders is not readily apparent on WM6 and no one seems to know how. I'm getting used to the device, but it is a bit kludgey. I mainly chose the Q9h over the 8800 or curve so ...

I had perhaps the same problem - web sites kept freezing even with 4 bars! I switched from Opera to IE and the problem disappeared. Looks like Opera has some bugs or isn't fully compatible with this phone.

300k file size limit... Otherwise they don't show. You can change this with a registry editor, or just recompress your files smaller - you can't tell the difference on the small speaker. Would have been nice to see that in the instructions!

Re: hey
Oct 31, 2007, 5:25 AM

Ringtones are easy to transfer - if you know where to put them! You transfer them by clicking on EXPLORE in ActiveSync 4.5. Then just drag to the appropriate folder. Little things they don't tell you in the meager instruction book: 1. 300k max file size for MP3 files used as ringtones. Larger and they won't appear in the menu. This can be changed by editing the registry, which requires additional software that has been updated for Windows Mobile 6. ...

That would be slightly better. Replies would go to the right place. But it still would not keep the devices in sync. I need push email.

Re: Push Email Syncing from HOME?
Oct 30, 2007, 2:31 PM
in the Motorola Q Global / Q9h forum

Sure, but then it won't be in sync with my home email and replies will go to my home email! That would be fine if I was just using it to keep an eye on things, but to actually use email on the device I need them to be in sync like on a Blackberry. I am pretty sure it's possible, I just can't find instructions on how to set it up.

I agree that black would have looked better. However, I likely would not have noticed it much had I not read folks complaining about it. A minor flaw on an otherwise darn cool device. Had you never seen how it was originally supposed to look, would it still bother you?

Push Email Syncing from HOME?
Oct 30, 2007, 2:41 AM
in the Motorola Q Global / Q9h forum

Here are the modes that appear to be supported for push email in Windows Mobile 6 on the Q9h with a data plan: 1. Email direct from a pop3 account. 2. Email from a supported service like gmail, Yahoo Mail, etc. 3. Exchange or Notes corporate server (from work). 4. Microsoft Direct Push server (from work). 5. Activesync - connect via USB Well, I would think my scenario is common, yet it's not covered? I have my pop3 email on my desktop computer in Microsoft ...
