Did you have to give up unlimiited data plan?
Jun 8, 2012, 2:27 PM
in the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon) forum

A couple of weeks ago Verizon stated that going forward they would discontinue offering the unlimited data plan to those upgrading their smartphones unless they agreed to pay the unsubsidized price for the phones (about $700). If I preorder the phone for $199 on Verizon, am I giving up my unlimited data plan?

Although the article talks about preordering the Galaxy S III, it makes no mention of having to forego your unlimited data plan. If you recall a couple of weeks ago Verizon stated that going forward they would discontinue offering the unlimited data plan to those upgrading their smartphones unless you agreed to pay the unsubsidized price for the phones. If I preorder the phoen for $199 on Verizon, do I have to give up my unlimited data ...

Is the LG Voyager a smart phone?
Jun 28, 2011, 3:47 PM
in the Verizon forum

What about the LG Voyager? I too am waiting for the Bionic but wanted to lock in the unlimited data plan. I went to local Verizon office and got the $29.95 unlimited data plan for my LG Voyager. The rep said I am now locked in to the unlimited data plan and will be grandfathered when I get a 4G phone. I know reps can sometimes be wrong. Is the LG Voyager considered a smart phone? ...

Re: Lose unlimited if yous witch from 3G to 4G
Jun 23, 2011, 8:08 AM
in the Verizon forum

I was at a Verizon store a couple of days ago and the rep told me that if you have an unlimited data plan on a 3G phone and upgraded to a 4G phone after the tiered pricing your unlimited plan will not carry over. He is claiming that 4G and 3G are different. I hope he is wrong. Does anyone else have any info on this?

Just tried with no luck

in the Motorola Droid X forum

I just called up Verizon and got the nicest rep. She tried everything possible and no luck. She also confirmed that my final cost will be $99. $299 less $100 instant rebate and less $100 new every two year discount. I'll be placing my order online on the 15th.

I was going to pre-order from Bestbuy but decided to call verizon first. I was told that it would cost me $99 ($299 less $100 rebate less once every two year discount of $100). That is $100 less than best buy cost.

Verizon 4G network will have tiered pricing, NOT unlimited data
Jul 1, 2010, 7:19 AM
in the Motorola Droid X forum

I am pretty sure the Droid X does not have have 4G capability. Also, according to Verizon they will NOT offer unlimited data plan for their LTE (4G) network when it is available. As with AT&T they will charge by the MB. Considering that Verizon is planning on rolling out their LTE network in 30 markets by yearend I was debating whether to wait it out and purchase a 4G capable phone, but the limited data ...

Possibly a good alternative to iPad
Jul 1, 2010, 7:15 AM
in the Motorola Droid X forum

I think for some the larger screen will provide enough utility to forego purchasing the iPad and other tablets. For that reason I think the screen size is excellent. It seems this phone has larger frame than the Sprint EVO, although bopth both have the same size screen. I suspect, in the future they can make phones where the overall dimensions are not much larger than the screen size.

Blackberry 9650 or Droid Incredible?
Jun 10, 2010, 4:02 PM
in the BlackBerry Bold 9650 forum

I am thinking of upgrading to the Blackberry 9650. Went to the Verizon store to see if it was available at store and no luck. I played around with the Droid Incredible and was very impressed. It is just like the iPhone, except super fast. Very easy to use interface and everything is lightning fast. Even web surfing was much faster than my Curve. Two things concern me about the Incredible. Everyone keeps saying ...

Will the Blackberry OS 6.0 be available for 9650?
Jun 10, 2010, 3:56 PM
in the BlackBerry Bold 9650 forum

I am thinking of getting the Blackberry 9650 from Verizon. Does anyone know if: 1) You'll be able to upgrade to Blackberry OS 6.0 when it comes out? 2) Will there be a fee to migrate to OS 6.0 evn for those that get phones just a few months before OS 6.0 release? 3) When will OS 6.0 be available?

I believe full retail is $439. But I am not sure what discounts would apply. Perhaps you can get the advanced device credit with data plan and save $100.

I got a tracking number from Fedex stating it was picked up so I don't think they can cancel mine. Also got a call back from the Verizon rep saying it was approved for shipping. I followed the instructions a gentleman posted on this site about entering 924 area code for your number. I ended up getting a VZ rep from the Georgia call center. After all discounts the price worked out to: $119 $19 (Saturday delivery) $10 Tax $149 ...

Folks, thank you so much. I just called and did not even have to give the SKU number she looked it up and the BB Curve is showing up on inventory. I was told that because it is the end of the shift it will not get approved until tomorrow but as soon as it does they will ship it out for Saturday delivery and charge me an extra $12 for next day service. Hopefully it works. Thanks again.

I don't know if it is absolutely true or impossible, but I know for a fact that they have pricing setup. I went to Verizon Wireless office and the sales rep pulled up the pricing in a computer in front of me. I saw the pricing and pictures of the phone on the computer screen.

I was looking at the price on the screen and it specifically stated that the NE2 price was $369. Are you saying that there is a $50 in store discount + $50 rebate? I really hope that your right and the ultimate cost is $169 and not $219.

I just went to the Verizon Wireless in Manhattan (34th Street) and they confirmed that it will be available in the store on May 12th. As far as pricing it is $369 with NE2 plan. There is a $50 rebate bringing the cost down to $319. If you get the data plan there is a further $100 discount bringing the net cost down to $219.

I have been waiting for the Verizon Curve for ever. Recently I purchased my wife an iPod touch and have to say the user interface, and functionality is exceptional. The VZ Curve is coming out right around the same time as the new 3G iPhone. I will evaluate both before deciding to go with one or the other. I bet many others will do the same.

BlackBerry 8830 out of stock on VerizoneWireless.com! Maybe an update coming?

After waiting months for a Blackberry Curve on Verizon I had just about given up. I went to the VZ Wireless site last night to order the 8830 only to see it was "Out-of-Stock". Could this be a sign that a new Blackberry is coming soon? Or perhaps an update to the 8830 which is long overdue.

Re: HOW BAD ARE VERIZON WORKERS?

Don't let the Verizon reps scare you into believing that leaving will not affect them it will. The best way to make companies understand the value of their customers is have them leave because of poor service. Also, blaming poor service purely on one location is also demonstrates a lack of attention to customer service. Every location and every employee needs to strive to provide the best service. Blaming this and that just demonstrates exactly ...

I don't think it is fair to list the Verizon network as a justification for the cost of the phone since we are already paying the highest rates for that network.

They are very different phones. The 8830 is a world phone designed primarily for the business user. It does not have a camera. The keyboard does not compare to the Curve's and it has the previous generation of media software etc... I would love to see a Curve that has the latest software, improvement in font display and media software in the Pearl along with the Wifi Curve just released for T-Mobile.

Wifi (will the 8820 use wifi for voice calls and email?)
Jul 21, 2007, 5:59 PM
in the Article: RIM Adds 8820 Wi-Fi-Enabled BlackBerry to Lineup forum

I suspect the wifi works for browsing the web. The question I have is will the wifi also be used for sending and receiving emails, but even more importantly phone calls? I am currently using VerizonWireless. Their network is fine where I live. I am planning on switching to AT&T. A friend came by last night who is on AT&T and signal strength was very low on a relatively new phone and on the 8800. If the ...
