Re: Mango update for all Windows Phones!

Unless you have the Dell Venue Pro (in which case your only option is to remain patient), you can force the update to take place if it simply hasn't been pushed out to your phone. To do this, just check for an update in the Zune software while your phone is tethered to your computer. If no update is found, then check for an update again and immediately disconnect your PC from the Internet by either turning off the ...

Windows Phone is really solid. You should give it a shot. Considering the fact that you refer to Microsoft as M$, however, I doubt that you'll bother. Enjoy living in ignorance.

I got an alert for an update earlier today at work, but I found that performing the update at my PC whenever I got home just updated my phone to a newer version of 7.0. I wonder why such a minor update would be sent out so close to when 7.5 is supposed to be available.

As long as you're authorized to assume liability of the line, you should be able to take the equipment with it. Your upgrade eligibility should remain the same, and your contract will be either one year or whatever your existing contract is, whatever's shorter.

You know, perhaps familiarizing yourself with these tasks and working more efficiently to resolve them could be helpful. I always hate getting calls that begin with, "I'm calling from one of your stores..." Or, better yet, getting a call that happens to be from a store rep. Really, it doesn't take long to analyze a bill, and I've had plenty of store reps call me to diagnose very simple billing issues. Also, your post really does make sales reps seem like ...

Kin's Return as a Feature Phone
Nov 14, 2010, 6:27 AM
in the Verizon forum

Did anyone notice that Kin is making a comeback (?) in the form of what I assume to be a software revision on all of the unsold Kin phones that'd been released earlier this year? http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/11/c onfirmed-kin-one-and-two-are-returning-to-ver izon-wait-what/ Strange move, considering the fact that all of Kin's original selling points are gone. I realize that customers - for some reason - want advanced phones that do nothing more than call and send text messages, but wow...it would've been nice to see those features ...

Yeah, I've gotta say that Verizon Wireless killed my interest in this phone. It's got less RAM than the rest of the Galaxy S line, and it's got two pre-installed navigation apps that I'll probably never use. I can't imagine needing to go back to VZ Navigator after using Google's offering. And Bing? Ugh...I suppose that it's not horrible, but it's certainly not as good as Google.

The gaming potential has my interest piqued. I've been reading and watching just about anything that I could find about Windows Phone 7, especially since I learned that there's a Castlevania game coming out for it. If it's an exclusive Castlevania game, then I may just hafta get a Windows Phone 7 device for that reason alone. Loving Castlevania is a sickness. :P

I don't listen to FM radio, but I can understand others wanting access to the content. Thing is, why bother incorporating an FM tuner into the phone when these broadcasts could (and should) simply be set up as digital streams available through data connections?

Thanks for clarifying. I use my Eris very, VERY comfortable in any given month, and I generally don't even reach half a gigabyte. Still, people like this guy don't seem to understand that everyone using their devices so heavily would inevitably bring a network to its knees. He'd probably be pleased with these throttled speeds in that case. XD

It very well should've. I believe that Android Market discloses what each app has access to based on which API's are accessed by the app. Whenever customers ask me about anti-virus and the like, I generally just tell them to pay attention to what each app has access to. It's understandable that messaging apps have access to your phone book, for example, but it wouldn't make sense for a wallpaper app to have access to something like that.

I doubt that it's anything worthy of leading to a lawsuit. Really, it's nice when the community can indefinitely support any piece of equipment, but it's not as though any manufacturer is obligated to let you tamper with its hardware and software. If you do, then you're voiding the warranty, anyway. As long as you do your homework as to which phones are locked down and which ones aren't, then you should know which devices you should purchase and ...

Who here's getting the Droid X, who's already gotten it, and who's waiting for the Galaxy S (or another upcoming phone)? I must say that I was impressed with the Droid X, but Sense UI (I have an Eris.) really has me spoiled. To me, it looks like Samsung's put more thought into UI enhancements, especially with the notification area. As long as Samsung's take on Android isn't as bad as its take on Windows Mobile, I'll look into ...

I don't believe that CDMA phones are locked in any way. It's a matter of the carrier allowing the device on their own network, as the carrier needs to add it to its device database, map it to plans, etc.

If there IS a restocking fee, then I believe that the original post's intent was to point out that customers who return their devices are essentially being conned out of $35 because of a defect that Apple is understating the severity of. I can understand there being a lawsuit if people can't return a device because it's legitimately defective without having some of their money taken away.

I never had a problem with my LG's, either, and I had both the Chocolate 2 and Chocolate 3. Great phones. LG's put far more effort into CDMA phones than Motorola (pre-Droid), Nokia and Samsung have, in my opinion.

Have you tried a master reset? Honestly, my vibration changed a bit, but only in terms of style. (It's more of a kick for certain events, rather than a buzz.) The only issue that I've noticed with 2.1 is my Mail icon not updating the number of unread messages for anything other than the default account at times.
