On my BlackBerry's, when entering a URL into the browser, you can press the space bar once to insert a period. However, you are right, if typing a URL in an email or something like that, getting to the period can be rather annoying.
Period Issue
On most of the Blackberry reviews the reviewer always list the same issue of having to hold the ALT key in order to type a period.
Anyone familiar with Blackberry's knows to type a period you just hit the space bar twice.

If i go to the UK and take a Cingular phone it'll cost me 1.29 per minute to receive a call. If i get the discounted plan, i can receive calls for 99 cents per minute.
