no problem with the form factor, but i noticed the press release touts "Wi-Fi® for faster connectivity and extended data coverage." no mention of 3G anywhere in there. i take this to mean this will only be capable of 1xRTT speeds when not connected to WiFi. that's kinda lame.

if you click on the "more info at Sprint Nextel" link, there is no mention of the iDEN (Nextel National) network. the only mention of iDEN is on the phonescoop summary.

QChat not iDEN, right???

just to clarify... the linked news release implies this expansion of Nextel DirectConnect service is of the EVDO Rev. A based, QChat variety... not the iDEN kind. references in the link: -- "enhanced" PTT -- Sprint Mobile Broadband network -- Sanyo PRO 700 and Moto Renegade V950

don't really see it as which platform has a better advantage. with android coming soon and a newly opened up symbian os the real advantage is for consumers... more competition, more innovation... regardless of which platform you go with.

helions don't have to go anywhere... if anything this move will probably expand your options and possibly get some better deals. a combined helio/virginusa can negotiate better network deals with sprint. besides, sk telecom (helio's main parent) will still be involved, having seats on the new virgin board and expanded investment. i wouldn't be so quick to jump ship. if anything the main thing that would change would be the branding from helio to virgin.

the combined mvno can have a more diverse handset lineup from the most basic of the basic to the advanced handsets like the ocean. wonder if/how they'll change their plans... i guess they can now cater to both basic pre-paid users as well as all inclusive post paid plans. as for coverage, don't think that would change since both mvnos use sprint's network.
