Re: Have fun with that At&t
Who's massive debt?
Alltel's customers and employees have all been adopting with low moral. Look how long it took to do this. VZW dragged this out and it just benifited them in the end. Its a merger that never should've have been approved.
Re: Why does this company still exist?
The debt was from the Goldman buyout. When Alltel was purchased from the shareholders (6 months before the VZW BO) CityGroup financed the whole thing. It wasn't Alltel's debt, it was the payout to the stockholders.
That's why I was saying, they used to be a cash and carrier only, like USCC, until CityGroup's investment firm went to "fatten them up". Which in the deal, CityGroups team made almost 6 billion.
Re: Why does this company still exist?
Incorrecto :o
Alltel was in no financial trouble. In fact, up to the end of 2007, Alltel advertised how they were debt free.
Alltel was privately traded at almost $70 a share when a private investment firm purchased them. The private investment firm financed the complete purchase....hence the hand off to VZW.
Alltel made three attempts to purchase Sprint. All three attempts fell through while still negotiating.
Once the PIF sold them less than a year later, they put almost ...
Re: really?!? no post since sept? now its dead.
Nope
Re: fact
If you are going to drop such a post, you must post a source or reference to it.
After the Alltel / VZW merger I bet your numbers are very flawed..... just a guess though.
Re: add more 1900 umts instead!!
Hmm.... isnt the 900MHz the same as the 850 band they just improved or are improving?
Re: Verizon Coverage Map
What area's?
Re: Verizon Blackberry 8330 on Alltel?
Once activated on the Alltel network, should be a simple *228 opt 2.
Re: Verizon Blackberry 8330 on Alltel?
Download the 4.5 (or current device software from RIM). Load it into the phone. You will need to do this from the computer you have your BB Desktop software installed on. Call customer service and tell them you bought an Alltel BB Curve on line and need to do the ESN change. No one will ever know and it will act just like an Alltel BB Curve (Browser and all).
Be sure to update the PRL option though.
Worked for me ...
Re: Official Statement from Atlantic Tele-Network
And that backs up my point... I don't think USCC had the capital to make that purchase... they refuse to go into debt. Even though Alltel's divestures would have been a perfect fit.
Re: Official Statement from Atlantic Tele-Network
Yes - I would agree with you. I was more referring to the overall package (The 76 markets that ATT agreed to buy). Thought the Dakota's and WY would have been a great addition.
Re: Official Statement from Atlantic Tele-Network
USCC is a cash and carry only company. USCC did not want to go into debt for the purchase.
Re: How long until US cell suffers same fate??
Umm... becarful. Alltel was traded at nearly $70 beore they got bought out.
I cannot confirm this - but Alltel was looking to make a move on both Sprint and USCC - And then their fate :(
I am a big USCC fan - but don't say it won't happen to USCC too.
Re: account number
He's right. Alltel Customer Service is not what it used to be. Slowly getting better again. Since the company has now offically split, the divested side is definatly full of first timers. We have seen major improvements over the last month or so. It seems as though they're treating everyone as if they are trying to get one over on them. Which in customer service is sometimes the case, but you can not act like that towards the customer.
Somebody ...
EVDO and Broadband Internet Connection "?"
OK,
Promoting the Wireless Revolution and not making the device EVDO?
Skype and other VOIP solutions can run with EVDO, why not do away with the wires completely?
Re: US Cellular to buy divested Alltel properties in these states...
USCC would be a great fit for the Dakotas. It would be a great fit in those areas.
USCC is very good in the rural areas, like Alltel.
As for VZW making cash on this....yes and no.
They have 180 days to sell of the divestitures. Anything purchased in the beginning will go for far market value.....anything sold at the end of the six month time frame could be acquired for far less than it's worth. Remember they are only selling ...
Re: Confused!!!!!!!!!!
Funny thing about that, do you really think VZW will sell of it's own customers?
Re: All i need to know is
That's a loaded question. Alltel operates lots of GSM coverage. In fact, in the four state region of SD, ND, WY, MT, TMO and ATT are using the Alltel Network.
So it would fill many holes in the either one of the major GSM carriers.
USCC would be another major contenders (one would think). They just started rolling out EVDO to many of their markets. So the four state region would also be very appealing to them (again, one would ...
Re: All i need to know is
OK - The look up tool has not been posted yet, or at least I haven't seen it.
But looking at the maps, you are just to the Northeast of Cleveland. Can't quite tell if you are in the dark blue or in the yellow.
If you in the dark blue you will continue to be Alltel until VZW finds another buyer. You would become somebody OTHER than VZW.
If you are in the yellow, according to the previous post ...
Re: All i need to know is
Red, yellow, light blue - all Alltel customers are going to become VZW.
Dark Blue - Will not become VZW, must be sold off to another company. They have 180 days to find a buyer, starting Jan. 9th.
Not sure of your location. If you can't tell from the map, then what's your zip code?
Re: All i need to know is
No, the divested markets will remain Alltel until somebody other than VZW buys them.
Re: New Updated Verizon Alltel Merger Map
Will Sprint make any moves toward the divested markets?
Divested Markets for sale
Considering TMO coverage and current markets - thought it would be very interesting if they made a move on Alltel's GSM coverage - After all that is how any TMO phones work in ND,SD, WY, MT.
Would that be TMO related?
Re: Is this the Verizon/Alltel forum?
It's all good.
:D
Should we start an argument? You're right, it would make this seem more like Phonescoop.
Re: Is this the Verizon/Alltel forum?
Boo - ATT! That makes the playing field a little unlevel doesn't it?
Re: Is this the Verizon/Alltel forum?
The divested markets fit perfectly into ATT's holes in its coverage maps....
Tell me though - Can your dealers sell the iPhone yet?
Re: Is this the Verizon/Alltel forum?
Well see I though you guys would be interested in the areas up for divesture. Considering Alltel has GSM in all of the Dakotas' and you guys don't have anything here.......
Just would be very interesting on what happens.
So Informational?

But, with no money to roll it out, they will lose, again.
Re: U.S. Cellular Loss Customers Last Quarter
Where is West Virginia?
Re: Verizon / Alltel Merger Map Posted Here!!!
Exactly my thoughts, what a great fit.
Does USCC operate any EVDO networks now?
Re: Verizon / Alltel Merger Map Posted Here!!!
Anybody thinking that USCC is going to make a move on the divesture markets?
Re: Verizon / Alltel Map Posted Here!!
Yea, but it is meant to be a divesture map. It's only suppose to show Alltel's assest and what VZW gets to keep or forced to sell.
